Vanilla Exporter from Madagascar — Mahomby Export SARL

MAHOMBY EXPORT SARL is a licensed exporter of Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, based in Sambava in the SAVA region (Sambava, Antalaha, Vohémar, Andapa) — the world’s leading Bourbon vanilla production area. Founded in 2015, our company combines two activities normally kept separate in the industry: cultivating our own plots in Virembina and Nosy Be (municipality of Antalaha) and direct export to international professional buyers.

Our REX registration: MGREX6019287585 — registered exporter status under the European Union EBA (Everything But Arms) scheme, allowing our European clients duty-free customs clearance.

Our regulatory status

As a licensed Madagascar exporter, Mahomby Export operates within a strict regulatory framework:

  • REX Madagascar — no. MGREX6019287585, issuance of statements of origin under the EBA scheme
  • Phytosanitary certificate — issued by DPV Madagascar (Directorate-General for Plant Protection)
  • NIF 6019287585 / STAT 46101112025010776
  • Certificate of analysis per batch — vanillin content, moisture content, bean length
  • CITES — Vanilla planifolia falls under CITES Appendix II (Orchidaceae family), but beans from cultivated plants benefit from the exemption provided by the annotation. No CITES document is required for commercial export.

Our model: mixed grower-exporter

We cultivate our own plots in Virembina and Nosy Be, two villages within the Antalaha municipality. Around these plantations, thirty-five farming families partner with us and entrust their harvests to Mahomby.

Growing vanilla ourselves imposes the same long-term commitment as the one our partner families face — three years before the first harvest, several years before a vine reaches optimal yield.

Commercial relationship with our partner families

  • Price paid 5 to 8% above the Sambava market rate
  • Payment within 7 days after weighing
  • Multi-year commitments over 3 years with guaranteed volumes

Vanilla grades exported

We export the full range of commercial grades of Bourbon Madagascar vanilla:

Whole vanilla beans

  • Gourmet A — 14 to 20 cm, supple, vanillin content 1.8-2.4%
  • TK (Top Kitchen) — 12-14 cm, for extraction and industrial use
  • Red Europe — red grade for the European market
  • Red US — red grade for the North American market
  • Mexican variety — Vanilla planifolia Mexican variety, 18 cm+

Processed vanilla

  • Vanilla Seed — extracted seeds for food applications (ice cream, pastry, visual effect)
  • Vanilla Caviar — extracted grains, fine pastry
  • Vanilla Powder — micronised 200 µm

Upon request, we also prepare private label packaging under your own brand.

Packaging and traceability

Each batch is vacuum-packed for food use at our Sambava workshop, in 250 g, 500 g, 1 kg or 5 kg pouches according to your requirements. Shipping cartons are sealed with anti-tampering kraft tape and include a food-grade desiccant pouch inside.

Each pouch carries: a unique batch number, net weight, packaging date, traceability barcode (village of origin, harvest week, measured vanillin content) and Mahomby Export seal.

Frequently asked questions

How can I request an export quote?

Contact us through our contact form specifying: grade requested, monthly or annual volume, destination, preferred Incoterm, end use. We respond within 48 business hours with a firm quote valid for 15 days.

Do you provide samples?

Yes, samples are offered from a 5 kg purchase commitment. Contact us to arrange shipping.

What is the lead time between order and shipment?

5 to 10 business days for preparation and packaging, depending on volume and grade. Add transit time based on the chosen Incoterm.

Do you accept annual contracts?

Yes, we favour multi-year commitments (2 to 3 years) with guaranteed volumes. These contracts benefit from preferential pricing and secure your supply ahead of each harvest campaign.

What sets you apart from other SAVA exporters?

Our mixed model: we grow AND export. Unlike a sourcing-only approach, we know every stage (planting, hand pollination, blanching, drying, sorting, ageing) because we practise them daily. This gives us complete traceability from our own plot or that of our 35 partner families all the way to your warehouse.
